Angola is experiencing a nascent but expanding mpox outbreak concentrated in the DRC-bordering provinces of Cabinda and UΓge, with 13 confirmed cases representing the country's entire known disease history since its first detection in late 2024. The emergence of cases without travel history in Cabinda raises concern that local transmission chains are becoming established, while limited diagnostic capacity and constrained vaccine supply complicate containment. The situation warrants close monitoring given the proximity to the ongoing large-scale clade Ib outbreak in the DRC and Angola's structurally vulnerable border geography.

RΓ©union is experiencing low-level but sustained mpox clade Ib activity in 2026, driven by repeated importations from Madagascar and intermittent secondary autochthonous (local) transmission.
